these trees are disgracefully nameless
and brazen in their relations,
they lead shameless lives of poverty,
but they love and love is sufficient,
for love is abundant riches.

gently they strain and adore the sun,
proud of the dew on their tender leaves
and their long sharp morning shadows:
a tolerant home for squirrels and birds
they amaze me with their patience.
